If you only have time to squeeze in one show during Melbourne Fringe Festival make it Simon Taylor's 10 Things I know About You. There's nothing quite like a Simon Taylor experience. He is as charming and humble as he is mind-blowing and is shows meddle with minds in a rare way, making him an unforgettable performer.
When it comes to Melbourne-based talent, Simon Taylor is a personal favourite of mine. Being in one of his audiences is an intimate and exciting experience. I saw his previous show, the critically acclaimed Pieces of Mind, during this year's Melbourne Comedy Festival. The audience was so involved in every step of the way that by the end of the night we all knew each other's names. Every single person in the room was either smiling, laughing or gasping the whole time and no-one wanted to leave once the curtain dropped. Taylor has a knack for inspiring post-show discussion as everyone tries to undo the knots that he has cleverly tied in our brains. Seeing him perform is like mental Twister. You keep trying to put your limbs where he tells you to but eventually everyone ends up in a twisted heap. But every moment is worth it.
10 Things I Know About You will baffle and bedazzle audiences throughout the Fringe Festival. Taylor will explore the little secrets that our minds keep from us, touching on topics like the chemical basis of love, morality, the illusion of choice and the joys of language. Only a fool would miss this one.
