Cross (x) Species Adventure Club is a workshop and “edible cocktail” event hosted by NY-based environmental artist, Natalie Jeremijenko and molecular gastronomist, Mihir Desai. This unique "supper club" explores our gastronomic, economic and material interdependency on other intelligent and tasty creatures through an interesting mix of food, art and science.
Launched earlier this year in New York, Jeremijenko and Desai's Cross (x) Species Adventure Club is a feast for the mind and the senses and thanks to Carbon Arts it's coming to Melbourne for one night only on Thursday 2nd December.
The NY-based artist, Natalie Jeremijenko, has received a good dose of praise for her work and philosophies. The New York Times recently said, "Ms. Jeremijenko's everything-is-connected philosophy is right on the money and her Franciscan implementation of it wise, witty and bracingly fierce." The collaboration between Jeremijenko and Desai proves that art and science don’t have to be at war with each other and this scientific approach to food and flavour may create a whole new genre of culinary experience. Scientific food, or Sci-Food, if you will, takes eating to different heights.
The workshop runs from 3-5pm, where the participants are guided in the preparation of three edible cocktails. A maximum of 20 people can take part in the workshop. Then from 6-8.30pm is the cocktail party, which will be a journey for the most curious of palates and will be insightfully narrated by Natalie Jeremijenko.
Whether you’re an artist, bio-chemist, chef or environmentalist, Cross (x) Species Adventure club will give your thoughts a good feed and your palate something to think about.
