FIT TO PRINT

Get Hands on at No Vacancy

By Hannah Colless, 03 December 2010

No time to go Christmas shopping? No Vacancy Gallery may be your saviour. In conjunction with QV Melbourne No Vacancy presents FIT TO PRINT, a tactile exhibition which includes weekend printmaking workshops in QV Square. Featured works will be for sale and with $2 from every print sold over $20 being donated to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre you can go Christmas shopping and boost your good Karma at the same time. Now that's multitasking.

During the weekend printmaking workshops, to be held on December 11, 12 and 18, more than 40 of Australia’s emerging and established artists will demonstrate their printmaking skills and techniques, including Screen Printing, Linocut Printing and Gocco.

For such an ancient craft printmaking has made a graceful transition into the modern world. Combining creativity and technicality, it straddles both old and new perfectly. Come and pay homage to the old and celebrate the new on Thursday December 9 at No Vacancy Gallery for the opening night of FIT TO PRINT.  No Vacancy are known for their vibrant, bustling openings and this will be no exception.
