Greedy Hens Dream Big

By Hannah Colless, 05 May 2011

Have you ever imagined you were a rock star? Katherine Brickman and Kate Mitchell of Sydney based design studio, Greedy Hen, certainly have and after years of helping their favourite bands create beautiful and unique album artwork, Greedy Hen have let their imaginations run wild and come up with the artwork for their very own fictitious debut album.

Greedy Hen’s handy work has been used on album covers, tour posters and in film clips of a plethora of bands, including Cloud Control, Florence + The Machine, Ariel Pink, Bill Callahan (Smog), Animal Collective, Washington, Josh Pyke, The Waifs and The Middle East. With a resume this impressive, they were undoubtedly the best candidates to create the artwork for their own faux band and what a good job they’ve done.

‘Greedy Hen: Debut Album’ comprises album artwork, song titles, a music clip of Greedy Hen’s fabricated hit single and illustrations narrating the content of each Greedy Hen song. The only thing absent from this playful exhibition is any actual music.  That’s for the viewer to fill in. This is a show for vivid imaginations and anyone who’s up for a bit of make believe.
