Perhaps you’ve been known to doodle but your repertoire is somewhat constrained; that is, your sketching subjects range from chairs to still-life arrangements of fruits and vegetables. If you think you’re ready to draw something that’s considerably more exotic than a bowl of fruit, try a spot of nude life drawing. No Vacancy Gallery hosts nude life drawing sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 7pm-9pm. There is a $10 fee for the two-hour class, which includes use of ink, pencils, pastels, charcoal, and paper.
The class is for people of all ages and experience levels, so don’t worry, no one expects you to produce a perfect likeness. You’ll find yourself amongst a mix of full-time artists, students, teachers, and regular people for whom drawing is a fun, relaxing hobby. In fact, it’s untutored, so it’s not so much a class as it is an opportunity for artists, paper, drawing utensils, and a naked person to come together and… just see what happens.
No Vacancy does not accept bookings for the class, so they recommend you get in early and sign up. The class holds 30 people maximum and doors open at 6:30pm, so get there on the dot and secure your spot. Perhaps the sight of a naked person makes you nervous but you’re determined to broaden your artistic scope; have a wine or beer to calm your nerves, which are available for a gold coin donation. Also, you will under no circumstances be expected to remove your clothes—leave that to the professionals.
