There is a catch 22 for aspiring artists that can seem impossible to overcome- galleries will rarely exhibit artists who haven't exhibited before with proven success, yet it's impossible to have a successful exhibition when they can't be exhibited without a previous successful exhibition. It's a chicken-and-egg scenario that can leave unestablished artists disillusioned with the industry before they've even had a chance to be part of it.
Enter one hundredth gallery, which aims to smash this catch 22 by dedicating itself to emerging and aspiring artists. Creative Director, Charles Hardman, has set out to give undiscovered artists a helpful boost by offering wall, floor, and online space for creatives who work in all mediums- painters, photographers, illustrators, designers, film makers, sculptors etc. Not only does one hundredth gallery focus on exhibiting emerging talent, but its passionate team also offer career advice and support for current and future exhibitors, and best of all they understand the importance of not compromising on creativity in the pursuit for a successful commercial career. Finally there's a gallery that actually gives artists the chance to prove themselves, to get out of those creative cocoons and into the public eye.
The "grand opening" exhibition will display works by the talented Brian Mangano, Janicke Johansen, Michell Guo, Mark Hammon, Wolfgang Glowacki, Pete Goodlet, Mark Harman, Kylie Mouat and Kate Hursthouse and runs from 27 May until 26 June.
