Tonight, Friday October 29, something new and exciting is beginning. The Late Show Gallery is a brand new night that brings together art, live music and a general late night romp. It is a p(art)y, if you will, and tonight marks the launch of this p(art)y into Melbourne’s art/party scene.
Doors open around 9pm so you can begin your night checking out the impressive collection of works by Natt Damon, Andy Mai Mai, Simz, Josephine Bradley-Scott, Jessica Stewart and Rhiannon Mowat in the gallery downstairs. A three-band line-up will kick off around 11pm with Demon Parade, Dirt Farmer and Melbourne’s most dance-inducing, party-starting, eclectic and eccentric band, Bewilderbeast. From there DJs Etta Curry Suppression Ring, Jean Pierre, Mike Sabber, Josh Valerie and Rad Bitch take the decks, spinning tunes until the wee hours. With a line-up like that it’s bound to be a big one so no time for yawning.
The Late Show Gallery is a concept that feels long overdue, especially in a city such as Melbourne that’s as thirsty for creativity as it is for a good shindig. And now, thanks to this venture from Gareth Culbertson, vocalist and guitarist of Melbourne band, Paris Riots, we get to p(art)y all night long.
So come dance, drink, observe and converse. It’s not too late to get your hands on some presale tickets for $10, otherwise try your luck on the door. And if you can’t make it to the launch tonight then keep your ears pricked up for the next one, as it’s intended to become a regular event in the New Year.
