How did you get into design?
I studied art at a special arts high school in Perth and then went on to study fashion after I graduated. I dont know if I really wanted to study fashion I just needed something to do after i finished high school and I knew how to sew, but eventually I came to love it when I was taught about designers like Margiela, Demeulemeester, Bless and Ann Sofie Back and their approach to design.
How and why was RAFW important to you?
It was important to establish myself in this industry, and to show my new collection on a runway where I was able to incorporate film and music to communicate the entire idea behind the collection. It was also important because I was able to talk to buyers and media over here, some of whom I already know but have never had the opportunity to meet face to face, like you Kat George!
