Quirky brunching

A New Clip Off The Old Block

By Zoe Ferguson, 18 June 2010

Along Glebe Point Road there is a fair choice of where to go for breakfast, brunch and lunch, however after only being on this cafe-saturated road for less than a year, Clipper Cafe is packed with market goers and health-conscious patrons.

Its shabby-chic terrace-front radiates character and reflects the cute-quirkiness that awaits inside. Sitting at a large wooden table, enoy the view looking out through the cafe's green-framed windows, or take in your surroundings and glance at the walls. With its collection of paintings, old photographs, two vintage pushbikes decorating the walls and coloured cushions and bric-a-brac, it's lively, fresh and comfortable.

Clipper's own blend of Colombian, Ethiopian and Indonesian beans brew beautiful coffee or if you want to freshen up, try a fresh juice, anything from watermelon to kiwi, it's all delicious. As for a bite to eat, you'll have difficulty trying to find such delicious and organic meals at such reasonable prices elsewhere. Their banana bread is generously thickly-cut and piled with ricotta, fresh berries and honey ($8) and the bircher muesli is beautifully textured ($8). My favourite brunch choice is the poached eggs on rye, with tomato and spinach - making friends with the menu's love affair with spinach, eggplant and haloumi, all of which are deliciously fresh.

Enjoy the communal dining appeal with the long wooden tables as you slowly enjoy a unique coffee, organic food and your new friend, Clipper.
