If you ever wondered why they call it the Paris end of Collins Street then step inside the Koko Black Salon. This is a hidden gem, as the salon is not clearly seen as you walk along the street. As you enter the Salon you walk past a display of handmade chocolates, as Koko Black is more commonly known as a chocolate shop. The Salon located in the rear is a stylish and spacious restaurant with a European look and feel.
The Queen of Hearts High Tea includes a selection of sweet and savoury petit tarts with flaky shortcrust pastry, vanilla panna cotta, Alice lamington, opera cake, chocolate cake with whipped chocolate ganache and hot pressed sandwiches filled with roasted, zucchini, capsicum and bocconcini or pesto, gruyere and seeded mustard. You have a choice of either tea, coffee or hot/iced chocolate with the high tea.
The Queen of Hearts High Tea is presented on beautiful Wedgwood ‘Queen of Hearts’ cake stands, with a French Laguile Knife used to cut the cakes. It’s nice to see that there is attention given to the details and presentation.
This is a mini high tea with portions being just the perfect size with the quality and freshness of the food being very good. This is a high tea you could have every day of the week.
This is an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon as the Salon is welcoming and stylish café, offering the perfect break from the city.
The Koko Balck Salon serve the Queen of Hearts High Tea Monday to Saturday. The cost is $18.50 per person, with a minimum of two people. Individual items are $3.50 or a trio of tastes for $9.00.
