We all know the song, but now it's morphed into a charming little Art Deco bar on Kent St. Welcome to Since I Left You.

You're greeted with a smile here, and the great service doesn't tire throughout your stay. The lovely boys behind the bar are attentive, kind and accommodating, and of course, have great style just like their bar.

It's half laneway, half indoor, with seven 3-4 seater tables outside with cosy heaters and around four 'tables' inside. The long black couch lining one wall inside makes this bar that much more intimate, as you share cushions and even tables if it gets really busy, with friendly strangers.

The decor is simple, stylish and being an Art Deco fan myself, I really appreciated their smart trimmings of the 1930s era. With framed pictures of the Chrysler Building in New York with its Art Deco spire, complimented with popular culture and alcholic beverage posters peppered on the walls, it's nice to see they took the effort to scout out some good accessories. The black and silver colour scheme, matched with glass coffee tables and black square poofs creates a somewhat masculine aesthetic, but is artistically feminised by the bar's delicate background and pressed metal. I especially appreciated the silhouette of the man walking away on the window (and representing the 'I' on the floor upon entering) it looked as if Don Draper had had enough of his scotch, stood up from his club lounge chair and walked away, very fitting with the bar's name.

Now for what you go to bars for. The drinks and nibbles. Their drink menu is reasonably priced, and their snacks are cleverly composed, with interesting flavours and textures. The octopus with peppers is delicious, and like Grandma's they do a great toastie. The cocktails ($13-$18) are well made and pretty strong, the Mojito was beautifully refreshing. Beer prices range from $7-$10 while their spirits are $8, and like the barstaff, they're "high quality and a little cheeky".

Since I Left You is another great addition to Sydney's small bar avalanche and its class, great music and staff are a sure thing you'll keep going back.
