Brotherly love

Caffeinated comrades

By Hannah Colless, 14 July 2010

For a while there I was a bit concerned that all those frothy coffee chains were taking over. Supersized and cream coated seemed to be the craze and people started saying “expresso” and “cup-of-chino.”

But my fears of the rise of  bad coffee were never realised- quite the opposite, in fact. The more I hunt around Melbourne (and Sydney) the more I am filled with hope. A coffee revolution seems to be taking place with a focus on origin and delicate flavours. Brother Baba Budan is one such café. It is a straight up coffee paradise- free from surplus froth, syrups, excessive portions and tragic hat and apron ensembles.

Positioned in a small space on Little Bourke Street Brother Baba has customers packing in for a coffee experience. The coffee comes freshly roasted from Brother Baba’s big brother, Seven Seeds.

So rise up caffeinated comrades and support the coffee revolution. If we keep sipping the good stuff things will only get better.
