Paint the town pink

Exotic birds by the beach

By Zoe Ferguson, 23 July 2010

If you’re walking along Manly’s South Steyne thinking ‘Gee I wish I could sip some sangria next to some pink flamingos and stuffed peacocks looking at the beach at sunset’ then it’s your lucky day. This magical formula becomes a reality at Manly Wine by Gazebo, so pull up a chair, light a candle and enjoy.

Manly Wine, like it’s stunning Surry Hills sibling The Winery, is loud, eccentric and high-styled. The delicious menu and wine list are the same so there are no strangers here, just scrumptious friends.

You can arrive in the morning for an early Bloody Mary and breakfast nibble on a bacon and egg roll or stroll on in at dusk and dig into some dinner with a bottle of wine. For dinner try the Char-grilled chicken, king prawns and avocado salad and lime chilli dressing ($23) or the Soft leek and blistered tomato tart, baby herbs, pesto and goats cheese ($22). If you want to share and care get the Crispy squid, mint, coriander and chilled cucumber salad ($18) or the Italian cold meats, toast and jams ($20) both lip-smacking crowd pleasers.

So next time you're in the mood to get exotic, transport yourself from Manly to Manly Wine; a much brighter, eclectic place to be.
