This new edition to Fitzroy's buzzing bar scene opened its doors only five months ago, and in that time has gathered quite the following. I Know A Place is this season's perfect drinking hole, with a large courtyard ideal for summer nights and sunset drinks. A huge mural by Makatron looms over the space, bringing the simple courtyard set-up to life.
I know A Place keeps things interesting with events like Beer of the Month night on the first Thursday of each month, where a local brewer pops in to give punters the lowdown on their delicious brews. These nights even include complimentary beer tasting. That's right, "complimentary" and "beer" placed adjacently in a sentence- now I've got your attention.
Another one of this bar's charming little perks is the American style gourmet hot dog stand in the courtyard. There's nothing like a Lil' Spicy Pancho dog, Chili Cheese dog or NYC Street dog after a few beers. It beats a Brunswick Street kebab.
They also do a damn fine Sunday sesh, complete with djs and a young, bleary-eyed crowd putting the "hair of the dog" theory to the test. Try combining hair of the dog with a hotdog for a proven hangover cure.
The drinks list consists of a range of thirst quenching cocktails, wines and local craft beers, and the summer cocktail list is being launched in the next week or so, ready to get the festive season going. So come on down and be the first to sample the sweet summery flavours, and let afternoons go by as you sip cocktails in the courtyard.
