Just a hop and a skip off Oxford St lies Pocket Bar – one of my favourite haunts in Sydney. Open until Midnight every night Pocket’s atmosphere is addictive with its funky beats, deeply comfortable leather and suede couches, graffiti-esque wall-art and masterful cocktails.
There was something about Pocket as soon as I first stumbled upon it, with its arty patrons, great music, tasteful interiors and dolls-heads under the bar, I knew I had found my niche bar.
It’s quirky, fun and intimately homely…and if your home looked like this you wouldn’t ever leave. Minimalist yet decorative, Pocket’s soft lighting highlights its mismatched yet strangely adhesive composure.
Offering Breakfast until 3pm and Lunches (at a great price too!) and of course Dinner…that’s if you like Crepes and Dessert for ‘Dinner’…and who doesn’t, really?
Pocket Bar’s creativity really strikes a chord with me, and it’s a refreshing environment after many sterile ‘modern’ bars. Its Optimism also parallels with my own…Pocket Bar has an initiative entitled Pocket Optimism, paying 20% of patrons’ parking fines upon viewing…ah-mazing. What don’t these guys do?
So if you’re after a difference in Sydney’s bar scene, an arty crowd, great music to listen to whilst sipping on a great Cosmo being engulfed by a leather couch then look no further than Pocket…you’ll fit right in.
