The Argyle’s old, characteristic building reflects the charm and character of The Rocks, coupled with modern qualities such as steel fairy-lights, a glass encased DJ, and illuminated timber beams. Bathing everything in a golden hue, The Argyle provides a comforting yet playful atmosphere, and a warm welcome for a balmy evening drink.
Depending on what mood you’re in, The Argyle offers an eclectic range of surroundings, freebies and entertainment. Mondays offer all-you-can-eat Schnitzel, Tuesdays host 2-for-1 Steaks, Wednesdays opens a noodle market for lunch and dinner, Thursday nights have 2-for-1 cocktails and Fridays plate up free food. That’s right. Free. Food. What a week. As for the weekend, The Argyle has just launched its new Sunday Club, offering live DJs all day (these ones are let out of the glass box) from 2-10pm with $5 drink specials to easily kick back in the courtyard and enjoy the end of the week in style.
As for spaces, there is the open courtyard with its novelty over-sized lamps and wide archways, inside is the Main Bar and upstairs sits the Perch Bar allowing you to escape the crowds and have a peep down at the courtyard from the comfort of your own lounge. This area morphs into the Lounge Bar (you can reserve a space for free, which is always handy on a Saturday night!). It’s cool yet casual, offering a broad range of imported beers, cocktails and quality wines and tasting platters not to be missed. Finally there is the Reibey Room, an exclusive VIP area featuring a 6 metre-long lava bar...enough said. And finally there is the Cellar, a relaxing place to recline and listen to some cool tunes. Slip away from the courtyard and head underground to The Cellars with its warm sandstone walls, exposed timber beams and comfortable seating giving it a rustic charm that reflects the heritage of The Rocks. Just perfect.
So if you feel like dancing, reposing, eating free food, drinking two cocktails instead of one, enjoying free entertainment or exploring an underworld of options and different tastes, The Argyle has it all, and is always a nice visit when one is at The Rocks.
