Andy Henson, co-founder of up-and-coming jewellery label, Henson, has called both Sydney and Melbourne home. Here, he helps us put the rivalry to rest.
How did your label, Henson, come about?
It basically happened out of a need to create. We couldn't find any clothes that we liked and so we just started making them. We eventually moved into jewellery and it really resonated with us so we dropped everything and focused on that.
What's on the horizon for Henson?
Well, we are doing a show at fashion week with Saint Augustine Academy to showcase our new collection and then who knows. We also really want to showcase our work overseas, so maybe a few trips around the world.
As someone who's lived in both cities, how would you compare the Melbourne and Sydney fashion scenes?
Sydney definitely feels more fashion orientated to me. I mean the people seem to care more about what they are wearing and as a result you get to see more current fashion around. Melbourne to me is all about the past, it's like a time machine, the land of the op-shop.
