What do you do, and how did you come to do what you do?
I'm a fashion designer and brand director for Skinny Nelson. I grew up in the fashion industry and studied advertising at RMIT University. Combining fashion and design instinct with creative branding know-how, Skinny Nelson was formed.
What’s on the horizon?
Skinny Nelson is soon to launch a new website with a much anticipated online store.
What's…
… your favourite place to shop in Melbourne and Sydney?
My favourite Melbourne fashion haunts are vintage store Shag on Brunswick street and for incredible accessories and eyewear, Eastern Market in Carlton. In sydney I love the Someday store in Darlinghurst and the new Porch & Parlour in North Bondi.
… the best place to take out-of-towners for a night out in Melbourne?
There are too many great food and drink places in Melbourne! If you came to visit me in Melbourne on one of these chilly winter weekends, I'd take you to dinner at Colonel Tan's for some outrageous Thai in the upstairs Revolver lounge room. Next stop aromatic mulled wine in the carpark bar Section 8 in the city and then hangover unbeatable breaky and delicious coffee at my local Gallean cafe in St Kilda.
… the best coffee in Sydney?
In Sydney I cant go past Single Origin in Surry Hills for the best coffee and the best meatball sandwich! Oh and any delicious baked goods form the Organic Bakery in North Bondi.
… something fun to see in Melbourne that’s off the beaten track?
I love to watch the the incredible circus amateurs training at the NICA school around the corner from my studio in Prahran. These kids are amazingly talented...it's very inspiring.
