The Benah Apocalypse

Benah's Pale Ryder

By Kat George, 27 July 2011

One season is just getting into swing when we're faced with a plethora of pretty things for the following (and normally opposing) season. So while winter frost bites our toes, designers are dangling their summer wears before us tauntingly. It might not yet be time for hot pants, sunglasses and bikinis, but luckily bags, scarves and other accessories are year-round must haves. Especially when they're made my Benah.

Benah's Spring/Sumer 11/12 collection, entitled 'Pale Ryder' is a sophisticated twist on Benah's free, bohemian aesthetic. A reference for the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse, the Pale Rider signifies the bringer of death, ushering in demise upon the back of a pale horse. The collection itself is both creative and timeless, and draws on elements of fate and destiny to grow ideas and forms conceptualised in the AW11 collection. From the study of ancient civilisations, Benah personifies temporal ideas and creates an enigmatic aura for the wearer.

Based on a palette of earthen tones, references to 70s bohemian culture (the crux of Benah's inspiration) are still there, and the influence of history is rich and deep. From huge shopper style totes to psychedelic scarves that embellish bags or wrap vibrantly in your hair, Benah attempts to capture the 70s zeitgeist. Introducing geometric chunky bangles, classic sandals, iPod cases and laptop satchels, Benah has covered all accessory bases for SS 11/12 with infinite style and traditional character that will have fans coming back for more.
