We Are Handsome creates cool swimwear for a sweltering summer in the city. With the imminent arrival of warm weather, we feel it fitting to feature one of Sydney’s best swimwear labels - We Are Handsome.

Tired of a limiting local swimwear market, Oscar & Elvis’ Indhra Chagoury and Jeremy Somers from People Like Us came together in the summer of 2009 to produce something different. The result was a range of lycra-licious cossies which acted as canvases for running wild horses, flamingoes and that snarling lion, which has since become somewhat iconic.

Now in their third season, they’ve kept the graphic fantastic element but added more to the WAH repertoire. This offering, titled 'The Memoirs, sees new styles of leggings and dresses sitting alongside one-piece bathers and bikinis. Florence Welch is a fan, having worn a mini dress in a recent Nylon spread, while Rihanna rocks a custom-made Bob Marley suit in her latest video - but don’t forget that it’s all Australian made.

WAH set out with an aim of breaking the mould of boring beach apparel and so far they have succeeded in transcending the genre of swimwear, into fashion.
