Dress Up's Grandiflorum

Dress Up For Summer

By Kat George, 02 September 2011

OK, I'm going to level with you. Dress Up is one of my most favourite Australian labels. This, to an extent, means that what you're about to read will be a little bit biased, but if my words, the imagery and indeed, the product of Stephanie Downey's delicately powerful creativity aren't enough to sway you to my side, then be gone, vile creature! Because this is what it feels like to be a lady who still has that little girl's heart. This is what it feels like to want so desperately to grow into your mother's clothes but to one day realise that she still hasn't grown into them herself. This is what it feels like to want to find the demure femme with in, but hold on to the sexy, edgy young girl. In short, this is Dress Up.

For Spring Summer 11/12 Stephanie has outdone herself yet again, with a collection so precise, so close to the heart, that it's simply moving to behold. Entitled 'Grandiflorum', the collection bridges the divide between modernity and nostalgia, relating the gardens we used to play in as little girls to the bouquets and manicured lawns we covet now. Inspired by domestic botany, the collection is both architectural and blossoming with the ease of movement that budding life brings. Employing asymmetric necklines in dresses, vibrant floral prints, textural undulations from silk to linen and splashes of colour in plant-like green and tangerine. Dress Up is all you'll need for an effortlessly sophisticated summer this year, so get your hands on fast because chances are this seminal season wont last long in stores.
