There’s no missing Gary Bigeni when he walks into a room. From his collection of oversized bow ties to his loudly coloured shirts and myriad suspenders in all the shades of the rainbow, Gary is a walking explosion of joyful colour therapy. Like a mixed bag of lollies, you just can’t help gorging yourself on his sumptuous visual feast. It seems unlikely then, that such unruly, rebellious style could birth one of the most perfectly crafted, classically timeless and refined labels of recent years.
But somehow, despite his fashionably anomalous appearance, Mr. Bigeni has mastered the craft of feminine elegance, marrying drapery with the highest quality fabrics and a distinctly urban intelligence. Using natural fibres including silk jersey, merino wool and silk cotton, Bigeni has perfected the art of drapery, and his silhouettes mimic those imagined on ancient Gods on Mount Olympus- but there is no decadence here. Gary Bigeni favours simplicity, layering and a neutral palette of sorbet colours offset my heather greys and blackest black.
For winter 2010, the Gary Bigeni credo is easy, clean, feminine chic. Dresses in a cascade of different lengths offer layering opportunities for those dedicated to the art of practical yet beautiful winter dressing, while structured jackets add an element of modern professionalism to the collection. With winter set to explode into a fairy floss of assorted pastel shades, Bigeni’s rose pink and powder blue ensembles are must haves for the impending chill.
