Carly Hunter burst onto the Australian fashion scene in a blast of draped skirts, sheer panelling and unexpectedly places cut-outs and yet the young designer, after only several seasons is a sartorial force to be reckoned with; a stalwart veteran in the making. As she moves easily across landscapes, her dark, transpersonal signature shapes outdoing themselves year after year, Hunter is on the rise and isn't showing any hint of tripping over or backing down.
Now, Hunter's spring/summer 2011-12 collection, 'Polymorphic Light Explosion', is just that, an explosion. Showing her signature deconstructed styles and paradoxically high drama shapes that are simple to wear and incorporate into an already comprehensive wardrobe, the summer collection is Hunter's most evolved yet. Favouring twists and drapes to embellish simple shift dresses, Polymorphic LIght Explosion is an exercise in both attitude and elegance.
Hunter's clothes inform a personality, and rather than consuming the body they enhance it with soft femininity that folds to embrace every different female silhouette. The summer collection features key pieces including slouchy pants with sharp knee cut outs, oversized, gentle tailored jackets and semi-structural organza tanks designed to float just so with diaphanous, gossamer skirts.
