Quirky Kicks

Made For Walking: Meandher

By Ingrid Kesa, 11 May 2011

Meandher is a new Sydney-based mens footwear label, providing quirky kicks for the dapper gent. It may be time to ditch the rubber thongs and threadbare sneakers in favour of slightly more fancy footwear. With a part rascal, part rogue aesthetic, these shoes are designed to compliment masculinity, not compromise it.

Designer Emily Cooper’s mission is “to bestow gallant shoes for gallant men.” Think Frank Sinatra’s charm crossed with Steve McQueen’s anti-hero persona, translated into a line of shoes encompassing desert boots, moccasins, loafers and brogues. Rendered in hand selected, individually dyed nubuck and suede leather, Cooper’s concern for quality is clear. A hands-on approach ensures every step from conception to production stays loyal to the label’s design ethos of quality and craftsmanship.

Our picks for winter include the emerald green Samson, a classic oxford style lace-up refreshed by its unique hue, the Ridgeback riding boot in caramel brown and the black Roy loafer, which adds a sense of sartorial suave to even the plainest of outfits. Time to hit the street. What are you waiting for? Run, don’t walk.
