Moonstruck Menagerie

By Kat George, 10 September 2010

Forget soft, vintage lines and start thinking retro directionality. Isson’s new range of eyewear is just that- a retrograde menagerie of strong shapes that intertwine what we know of the past with what we expect of the future. The collection, ‘Moonstruck Menagerie’ is hitting stores the nation over, just in time for summers blood red lips and sharp, clean wardrobes.

Never the shrinking violet, cult brand Isson is making eyewear- something essential in the blistering Australian sun- avant garde, stylish and fun. Having graced the faces of some of the world’s most talented creative’s (including Lykke Li, Devendra Banhart, Dion Lee and Baz Luhrmann), Isson’s sunglasses are the must have accessory for the coming summer.

The statement collection is described by the label as “Grace Kelly vs Dr. Timothy Leary. Its Anna Piaggi vs Uncle Karl. Its Peggy Guggenheim vs well, Peggy Guggenheim.” And the must have piece from the collection? The ‘Betsey’ frame which featured in the widely acclaimed Romance Was Born ‘Renaissance Dinosaur’ parade at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in May. The piece used in the show is hand-made and one-off, but has been included in the collection in black, pearl and green/purple smoke shades.
