In the wake of L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, ACMI has teamed up with the festivals cultural programme to welcome a new runway to its Federation Square location. From March 7, ACMI’s latest project, No Home, will comprise a two dimensional runway, showcasing a series of original short films by some of Australia’s most important emerging and established fashion designers and filmmakers.
With the likes of designers and labels Carly Hunter, Above, SOSUME, Limedrop, Arabella Ramsay, Orri Henrisson, Beat Poet, The Twelfth Letter, Upper Left Arm, Alexi Freeman and VIRR participating, No Home gives the previously homeless fashion film a home at last. And the explosive list of talent doesn’t end there, with filmmakers Adam Murfet, Jes Oldfield, Nicole Bianchino, Alex Goddard, Liam Gilmour, Nicole Rose, Alex Watkins, Lorin Askil, Tom Blachford, Chase Burns, Mark Trzopek, Yianni Warnock, Jac Eddy & Kasia Tons, and Michael Tyson joining the fray. As if the local talent wasn’t enough to entice you, these blossoming young Australians will be joined by international greats, Daniel Askill and Scott Altman, thanks to ACNE’s submission.
No Home premiers at ACMI on March 7, but the conversation is already happening online at www.nohome.tv, so flex those fingers and get online. No Home aims to open up channels of communication between consumers and the fashion industry in order to make the art of fashion a more communal, interactive experience.
