If there ever was a quintessential girl next door, it’s Arnsdorf. Season after season, perusing the label’s collections I can hear the Mystery Jets playing on repeat in my head “I think I’m in love with the girl next door, it’s driving me crazy I can’t take it anymore. I hear her playing the drums late at night, the neighbours complain but that’s the kind of girl I like.” Just like the Mystery Jet’s girl next door, Arnsdorf is elusive, alluring, independent and will always surprise with hidden talents and secret quirks.
The brain-child of Australia’s favourite girl next door, Jade Sarita Arnott, Arnsdorf is the honey of the fashion scene. The girls want to be the Arnsdorf girl and the boys want to date the Arnsdorf girl; she’s perfectly imperfect in her own perfect way. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t keep Arnsdorf close to my heart. A special personal favourite of mine (my wardrobe is slowly filling with Arnsdorf), I’m always proud to declare that my bias does not sway my opinion; Arnsdorf gets it right every single time. And true to form, the label’s winter collection ‘No One Belongs in My Suitcase More Than You’ combines the labels signature style with romance and a subtle retro redux.
For winter, Arnsdorf has employed some Marios Schwab retro glamour and reinvented it in only the way Arnsdorf can. With 50s inspired feminine pieces like sky blue draped gowns and peachy pink pencil skirts, Arnsdorf adds modern punch with metallic high waisted pants and structural blouses. Layering textures and colours, Arnsdorf embraces the relaxed beauty of the girl next door, the quiet confidence that is born of her obliviousness to the opinions of others (not that anyone could ever judge the Arnsdorf girl poorly). Infusing the collection with deep navy and ox blood red and heavy woollen pieces, Arnsdorf is ready to hit the chilly city streets with her favourite novel and leather tote in tow, all windswept hair and dreamy countenance.
