There’s something so sexy about a lightly sun-kissed shoulder peeking out from the cast off corner of an evening dress. Sara Phillips’ resort collection, entitled ‘We Belong To The Night’, embraces the exposed shoulder, and all the demure sexiness of cocktail hour. But there’s a twist- Sara adheres to all the fashion forwardness her eponymous label has thus far represented. Yes, you heard me; finally we can look to race wear, cocktail and formalwear and associate it with style, rather than tacky fake tans and ostentatious fascinators.
My favourite piece from the collection is a nude, long sleeved, one shouldered dress with a pink ruffle feature on the shoulder. Nude tones are leading the charge for summer, and there’s something so understated and elegant about a neutral palette. The clincher is that it suits both the pale skinned and the tanned, so it makes for a transeasonal wardrobe staple. The collection also includes sassy peplum dresses in gelato shades and show stopping maxi dresses- my favourite being a floor length, 70s style silver lurex gown. With one shoulder, of course.
