Forget everything you know about mainstream label Shakuhachi. Gone are the days of tie dye and baby doll; the already established label has done the proverbial 180, favouring quality, design and fashion forwardness over bland commerciality. Shakuhachi’s summer range, ‘Summer Love Etc’ is currently available online for pre-order, and judging by the dynamic, extensive range, you better get your order in quickly.
Launching its bold new direction with ‘it’ model Bambi looking as sultry as ever in the summer range, Shakuhachi may just be about to fall into the good stead of die hard fashionistas Australia over. Embracing that truly Australian summer aesthetic of easy, sexy practicality, Shakuhachi has now also injected an element of experimentation to their repertoire. But that’s not to say the label has become affected- the most brilliant thing about the Shakuhachi renaissance is that the label is just as accessible as ever.
From printed maxi lengths to asymmetrical lace to daring cutouts, Summer Love Etc has pieces that can be worn apart or together, mixed and matched and with a neutral palette, easily incorporated into any wardrobe. My picks for the season are the Holed Up tan suede culottes or black Leather Sports Shorts, the Day Tripper Frilly Cami Up Down Dress and Utility Relaxed Blazer in blush. There is also a covetable selection of shoes to boot (pun intended) that extends from the stacked heel trend that generally pervades summer footwear.
