State of Georgia's Fashion Nation

By Ingrid Kesa, 29 November 2010

With a background in acting and dance, her fashion label State of Georgia is not for those who suffer sartorial stage fright.

The Spring Summer collection sees a colour palette that positively pops. Clashing prints and stripes are rendered in fuchsia and fluorescent hues, which are sure to make their wearer feel centre stage. Titled 'Just Add Water', the collection is based around the idea of watching a flower grow from a small seed into something beautiful. Like this process of nature, Hall wants the women that wear her clothes to feel empowered and bold.

Hall's love of playing dress-ups is clear in the garments that she creates. Frills, chiffon and tulle add a whimsical feel, inviting us to engage in flights of fancy. Like raiding a costume department, State of Georgia is full of delightful juxtapositions for special moments and also for injecting excitement into the everyday.

It's no surprise that State of Georgia is a huge hit in Japan. We can easily see her outfits on the streets of Harajuku, appealing to kawaii cool. Boutiques in America and Dubai have also taken a likening to the Melbourne-based label.
