Therese Rawsthorne's aptly titled AW11 collection, 'The Crush,' has me giddy with school girl excitement. With a belly full of butterflies, Therese addled dreams and a notebook covered with 'I (Heart) TR', I'm starting to think this might be more than just a crush-it could be love. Pulling back from the previous summer, Therese adopts soft tailoring in place of bold prints, and embraces the elegance of the urban socialite and winter chameleon.
While elements of signature Therese remain-a deft twist here, a seductive cut out there-there is something new and refined in the new collection. Incorporating wool coats and leather jackets, Therese embraces luxury in a decadent array of textures. With a muted palette including creamy tan, powder blue and charcoal grey, The Crush approaches winter with a subtle romantic whimsy.
Her signature shirt dress is still there, but this time Therese favours asymmetry in style, and still let's bare shoulders cheekily peek through. The Crush's printed elements are demure on a silk canvas. Key pieces include relaxed fitting, softly tailored pants and wool coats that are vaguely remenicent of Wang.
